Quoting the pulps

Looking for a Robert Leslie Bellem quote?  Try this one from the story “Badge of Valor” found in the Thrilling Detective June 1948 issue on page 75:  “Blunt as a blackjack and just as direct, he belonged to the old school believing there was more law enforcement in a locust nightstick than in all the scientific lie detectors ever invented.”  The phrase “locust nightstick” refers to the kind of tree the wood that was used to make it.
